Surface Assigment 5

My concentration for my AP 2-D Design portfolio was apples and their meaning.  I decided to go back to that because I was very excited when I executed my concentration and played around with apple related phrases and stories.  One of my favorites was the story of Adam and Eve.where the apple condemned them to be exiled from Eden.  I wanted to show that in the descent into smoldering darkness using warm colors.  I wanted the apples and bridge to move away from the clouds, which represent heaven.  Pattern is shown in the clouds, the boards on the bridge, and the apples, whether predictable or random.

Edit: I fail at clouds. lol.  I guess it was my fault because by the end of this, I guess I was rushing.  I might redo this and scrap the clouds altogether.

Surafce Assignment 4

The composition did not work out as well as I planned because the placement of each of the five paintings isn't as fluid as I wanted to be.  I wanted to do an abstract flow from space, sky, and then earth.  I do like each painting individually for the background colors, and I'm glad that I achieved a lava lamp movement.

Surface Assignment 3

My concept for this assignment was a spider.  I drew the initial full body of me sitting with my legs in the foreground to start off.  From that position I moved my legs outward and to the side to give off the multi-leg feel. I kept the light source the same.

Edit: I did leave a lot of negative space, and I do wish I got the top of the head.  I'll try to experiment with facial expressions next time I do a person.  But I thought the peaceful expression helped add to a spider resting on her web.

Surface Assignment 2

This was actually kind of fun.  I had trouble deciding what to leave in shadow.  I also wish I could have been neater with the edges. Hopefully, I'll have it down by the final project.

Surface Assignment 1

The concept was a dream landscape of my body using mostly my face, ears, hands, and legs.
I also incorporated mini me's to make it seem more like a exploration into my mind.
I wanted to concentrate on the daydreamer in me.
The markings are made up of scribbles, hatching, stippling, and solid blacks to give it a rough texture for the valley and a smooth texture for flow or something like a river.
